At the time of writing we have absolutely no idea what the result of the general election is, but whether you’re waking up to a distopian nightmare or a land of milk and honey (or, most likely, something inbetween), we thought you might like something to take your mind off it all, so we’ll kick off today’s double download with a Christmas tale of a little toy robot.
It come courtesy of Nini Bong, the latest in a long line of musical projects from David Lightfoot that we’ve covered over the years on Joyzine, and tells the tale of a once cherished childhood toy now confined to a box in the attic.

Today’s second track comes from another of Dave’s projects, sax-punk psychonauts Time Dilation Unit, who count brother James Lightfoot and Johnny Barnard amongst their number – the trio have shared stages together in numerous projects, including Joyzine favourites The Fades and Helmholtz Resonators. Their new single ‘The Day The World Turned Dayglo’ also features a vocal turn by Momoe Tasker of awesome queer punk band GUTTS – it was released on streaming services yesterday and we’re delighted to bring you a free download of the track today.
