One week in and we’ve had a plethora of Christmas presents from some of our favourite bands and labels already but we’ve no intention of resting on our festive laurels and today we’re bringing you a free track from a band of 90s favourites who are back on the scene after a twenty year hiatus.

Salad were an indie staple in the heady Britpop years of the mid-nineties, racking up a top 20 album and plenty of column inches in the music weeklies along the way. They disbanded in 1998 as the Britpop scene waned but have re-emerged two decades later sounding better than ever. Recent single ‘The Selfishness of Love’ was our video of the day last week and a new album The Salad Way is currently in the pipeline with a Pledge Music campaign packed with bonus goodies already underway.
On the Pledge page you can also get your hands on The Lost Album Vol. 1, a collection of previously unreleased recordings from the nineties and it’s from that LP that today’s free Advent Calendar treat is taken. ‘Billy’ was recorded in 1997 and has become a favourite at the reincarnated Salad’s live shows. Speaking of which, you have one last chance to catch them live in 2018, as they play The Leopard in Doncaster on Saturday 8th December. The band will release a second collection of unreleased material in 2019, The Lost Album Vol. 2, which is available for pre-order on the Pledge Music page.
