Yesterday’s Advent Calendar tracks were provided by ace Sheffield promoters Buds & Spawn, with free downloads from Emergence Collective, Michael Woodman and New Ghost – get them all here. Today we’ve a track from a band hoping to make it to this year’s Christmas number one with a sweary message for the Prime Minister.
As always, the tracks are completely free to download and there’s no need to sign up to any mailing lists to access the songs (though if you’d like to you can join ours here), but if you’re enjoying the tunes we’d love you to make a donation to the wonderful charity Help Musicians, who offer health and welfare support to musicians at all stages of their lives.
Let’s find out who’s bringing today’s free Advent Calendar treat…
Last year, The Kunts set their sights on the festive top spot with a song that was nothing if not clear in its message, and whilst they didn’t quite reach the summit, the number 5 chart position achieved by ‘Boris Johnson Is a Fucking Cunt‘ will likely have caused a few tense moments in the offices of both the Prime Minister and the Official Charts Company.
This year, with the Tory government reeling from their catastophic by-election defeat in North Shropshire and ever more engulfed in a wave of scandals and blunders, The Kunts are back to stick the boot in with follow up single ‘Boris Johnson Is Still a Fucking Cunt’, a proper Christmas rock stomper which borrows musical motifs from both The KLF’s ‘Doctorin’ The Tardis‘ and The Addams Family theme tune.
There are 10 versions available to stream or download, all of which count towards the chart position. We personally love the collaboration with Cassetteboy, featuring guest vocals from the Prime Minister himself, well sort of (listen here) and there’s even a safe for work non-sweary version that takes a cheeky leaf out of the playbook of chart rivals Ladbaby (listen here). Details of how to create the most impact on the chart battle can be found here.
Today The Kunts have provided a free download of their rock & roll fantasy bursting ode to touring life ‘A Lonely Wank In a Travelodge’ for your Advent Calendar treat.
