We’ve got a double salvo from one of our favourite DIY record labels, Dirty Water Records.
Having grown from the Dirty Water club night in North London, they’ve gone on to release music from Joyzine favourites such as Oh! Gunquit, Archie & The Bunkers and The Priscillas as well as the two bands providing today’s Advent Calendar treats.
First to jingle our bells today are London r&b punk sensations King Salami & The Cumberland Three, whose festive offering ‘Sock it To Me Santa’ melds James Brown, a ‘Deck The Halls’ guitar solo and righteous garage rock & roll.
Download it here.
King Salami & The Cumberland Three play T-Chances in Tottenham on 19th December, followed by a New Year’s Eve show at The Fiddler’s Elbow in Kentish Town.
Markedly less seasonal but equally great is the dark sax-driven rock & roll of Harry Violet & The Sharks whose gravel-throated retro sound has recently found its natural home at Dirty Water. The band released their latest single ‘Jungle Cavalcade’ on 7″ vinyl back in September and we’ve got a download of the track for you today.
