Christmas is a time for catching up with old friends and today we’re delighted to bring you an exclusive free track from an artist who has featured on more of our calendars than any other.
It just would not be The Joyzine Advent Calendar without Piney Gir and, though our records from the early years are a little patchy, we’re pretty sure that she’s featured every year since 2005! Piney’s music has been through all manner of manifestations since then, most recently with the dark psychedelic pop of her latest album You Are Here, but regardless of the form she has an unparallelled knack for capturing the spirit of the season.
This year Piney has recorded a special festive version of ‘Universe’ from her previous album Mr Hyde’s Wild Ride, and you can download it exclusively on the link below.
Piney Gir plays one last solo show for 2020 at the Lexington in Islington alongside The School and will kick off the new year with gigs at The Sebright Arms, Hackney on 29th Jan (solo) supporting The Ralfe Band, The Finsbury in Finsbury Park on February 14th for Get In Her Ears’ special Valentines show (full band) and at The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing Centre in Oxford on 13th March with Fiona Bevan and Samantha Whates.
