It’s day 22 on The Joyzine Advent Calendar, and we’ve got something special from a long-standing friend of the site in honour of a recently departed legend.
The music world was shocked to hear of the passing of Buzzcocks singer Pete Shelley earlier this month, and tributes have rightly poured in from across the musical spectrum.
By way of showing her appreciation, Piney Gir has recorded a version of Buzzcocks’ best known track ‘Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)’ for the calendar.
The London-based American singer has had a busy year, releasing a string of ace singles (including ‘Dreamcatcher’, the video for which was premiered within these pages), tour the globe as part of ex-Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes’ band, release a drunk cookery book and round off the year with a tour supporting shoegaze legends Ride. A new album, her seventh, is due for release in the new year.
